The video sharing site is tweaking its search bar
YouTube is up to some interesting changes
Ever since Facebook released its first quarter results showing that the social platform has known a great increase in its video views and that it could easily turn into a serious competitor for YouTube, the latter started hinting at some changes.
A new report shows that YouTube is experimenting with its search box and that it soon might have no borders. Furthermore, it was revealed that the change will also affect the search button.
This button that you can click on will no longer appear at the end of the search box in the form of a looking glass like before, but you will still be able to click on the icon which will appear on the left side of the search bar.
However, inside the transparent search bar, users can read the “Search YouTube...” message but this will disappear once they click inside the bar and start typing their query. This change is similar to what Facebook did with its status bar.
Although YouTube has not rolled out the new feature yet given that it still in experimental phase, the
unofficial blog which released the information also provides instructions on how to enable it. So if you want to check out how it works and what it looks like, you can on the website and follow the steps. It should work for everyone using Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari or Internet Explorer.
Whether YouTube is working on these changes to celebrate its 10-year anniversary or to fight against its rapidly rising competitor, it’s still good news for the users who get to enjoy some improvements.
