Seconds From Death With Truck On Top Of Him, Teen Hears ‘Familiar’ Voice

A Tennessee teen was underneath his truck doing some repairs, when suddenly the jack gave out. The 5,000 pound vehicle came crashing down on top of the boy’s body, pinning him to the ground. He yelled for help, but no one heard him. He was trapped there, awaiting a slow and sure death, holding on to each of his final breaths. Then, he heard a voice who could help him, but it wasn’t a real person.
Sam Ray, 18, of Murfreesboro had been trapped under the truck for a grueling 40 minutes when he heard a recognizable woman’s voice. His iPhone was in his back pocket when the accident happened, and not only did it not break, but it made a call. Ray had accidentally “butt dialed” Siri, the phone’s voice command system.
He immediately saw his opportunity for help, but he couldn’t get to the phone to tell Siri what he needed. Thinking quick, he managed to maneuver his hip just enough to push it down and activate the microphone. That’s when he began yelling for his life, not knowing if Siri could hear him or not and call 911 on his behalf. Seconds later he heard another voice, this time it was an emergency operator reassuring him that help was just around the corner, KUTV reported.
Help came with a quickness, and Ray was carefully removed from under the pickup and rushed to the hospital. He suffered three broken ribs, a bruised kidney and second- and third-degree burns on his arm, since it had become caught near the exhaust pipe during the terrifying ordeal.

The grateful teen is not letting his rescue go in vain. Ray is a responsible young person who wants to pay it forward by helping other people. He has dreams of becoming a minister and plans to attend high school in Mississippi this year, since the school has a special program to help him pursue that goal. Ray said that he hopes he can return the favor to society by one day saving someone’s life, like what heroic rescue workers and doctors did for him.
“I would love to help people the way I was helped,” he said. “This has reminded me how fragile life is and how little time we have to make a difference.”
Without a doubt, this teen will be a blessing to others going forward in life, after his was saved. It’s evident that this near-death experience has left an impression on him. He was saved that day by the grace of God. His phone working and calling the right people in that crushing moment was not a coincidence, it’s proof his days weren’t done here. He has amazing waves of change to make in this world with his compassion and dedication to wanting to do good deeds for others.
