Recently, legendary actor Clint Eastwood sat down for an
interview and the topic of presidential politics came up. While
discussing the 2016 Election, Eastwood surprised the country when he
made an interesting endorsement for the race.
Eastwood, 85, sat down with Mario Lopez for a wide-ranging
interview, and he happily discussed this election’s field of candidates.
“I think there’s quite a few of them who are really good people,” he
told Lopez, the
Daily Caller reported.
Lopez pressed him on what he thought about GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
“You know, I don’t know,” he said of the billionaire. “I
think people are looking for somebody who is outspoken and who isn’t
afraid. And he seems to have kind of a fearless attitude.”
Eastwood, who made waves across Hollywood this year with the box office hit
American Sniper, also had good things to say about Dr. Ben Carson, one of Trump’s fellow contenders.
“I like Ben Carson because he is kind of a common sense
guy,” he said, before pointing out the obvious. “Any one of them would
be better than what we got.”
Amen. Eastwood also quipped that he doesn’t think the RNC
would be inviting him to the convention this year, after his speech last
year drew widespread scorn for his relentless mocking of Barack Obama.
“They might not want me this year because I’ll be talking to chairs and doing something stupid,” he said.
Eastwood has long been an outspoken conservative, but I do
find it surprising that he’s so fond of Trump, given his loyalty to the
Republican Party over the years. Then again, maybe he’s just as sick of
the establishment as the rest of us.
But one thing is for certain, he’s definitely right that any
one of the current GOP candidates would be better than what we have.
Hell, a monkey that simply sat in a chair in the Oval Office and stared
at the wall for four years would be better than what we have.
