Tanya Tyler had just grabbed a batch of laundry and sat down to fold
it, right next to where her baby was laying. Before she even picked up
the first article of clothing, she was overcome with a sense that
something was wrong, then she heard a voice telling her to do something.
The Spokane, Washington mother told
KREM
that she had an unmistakable feeling that her and her baby’s safety was
in imminent danger. Without second guessing her gut instinct, she
stopped what she was doing immediately, then heard a “voice” telling her
to run. Tyler grabbed her infant and bolted out of the room with
nothing but her baby.
She hadn’t even made it to the threshold of the door when she heard a
loud crashing sound coming through the ceiling in the living room,
where she and her infant had been just seconds before. Next thing this
intuitive mother knew, she was covered in dust and insulation and looked
up to see a massive tree which had come crashing through the home,
piercing the place where she and her baby had sat.
Aftermath of Tyler’s house being stuck by the tree
“As I was setting the laundry down, I actually heard in my mind, like instinctively, maybe, ‘RUN,’” Tanya
told
the local news station. “And I didn’t hear any trees at the time
falling, but I turned quickly and grabbed the car carrier with one hand
in front of the swing. And as we took one step, you could hear the tree
inside the living room.”
Had it not been for following the sudden instinct that overcame her
and listening to the unexplained directive she said she heard in her
mind, Tyler and her small child would have likely been impaled by this
large tree that had snapped in half and fallen through the roof. Both
mother and child were unharmed, and she thanks her intuition and perhaps
a “higher power” for saving their lives.

“I looked back, and the tree had just smashed where the
laundry basket was where I was standing,” Tyler said. “So if I was just a
couple seconds later, who knows where I would be. So, am I grateful? So
grateful. So grateful at this moment for my life, for the baby’s life.”
The damage to the house was so extensive that it will take
months to repair, but at least this family is safe and staying with
relatives in the meantime. Without a doubt, this wasn’t a coincidence or
one force of nature working in her favor against another one — this was
God sparing this mother and child from harm. Tyler said she didn’t know
what prompted her that afternoon, but hopefully she will see this
miracle for what it was — an answer to saving her life indefinitely,
which she may or may not have known she was looking for.
