A rapist has found himself on the receiving end of instant justice
after targeting a woman who he thought to be at a physical disadvantage.
Unfortunately for him, this was not the case, and his victim fought
back, leaving him severely disfigured – and he’s got the mugshot to
prove it.
Johnathon Holmes, 35, of Sheffield, South Yorkshire in England, had
spent the day drinking and was apparently in the mood. Not having a lady
friend around, he decided that his best course of action would be to
find one to rape.
After spending time ducking behind walls while keeping an eye out for
women all by themselves, he finally made a decision and started to
follow one of them. The 21-year-old woman was reportedly walking home
from work and noticed Johnathon following her sometime during the
mile-long pursuit.

After crossing the road three times to evade her potential attacker,
the woman states that she called her partner and grasped her keys in her
hand as she prepared for the worst. Before long, her fears became
reality as Johnathon ran up and tackled her into the bushes and
attempted to sexually assault her. Too bad for him, his victim wasn’t
going down without a fight.
“I believed without a doubt this man was going to rape me,”
she explained to the courts. “My life would have been over — he might as
well have killed me right there. I was so terrified but so angry.”
The woman managed to punch the man in the stomach twice and
began screaming which was heard by two passersby. As the two good
Samaritans came to the rescue, Johnathon tried to flee, but he tripped
while trying to hop over a guard rail, injuring himself in the process.
The attempted rapist has since been arrested and brought up on sexual
assault charges.

Although he states that he does not remember the incident on
account of being so heavily intoxicated, he did eventually plead
guilty, resulting in the judge passing down a four-and-a-half year
sentence. The prosecutor, Rachael Harrison, was pleased with the outcome
and shared the words of his victim, who previously said, “He won’t do
anything like this to a woman again.”
The victim and good Samaritans were praised for their
courage and bravery amid the court proceedings. Judge Sarah Wright
continued to remark on Johnathon’s victim by saying:
“No one listening could fail to have been moved
by her words. It is clear to me from hearing her words that what you did
had a devastating effect upon her. She is not able to continue her life
as before. The effects of your actions will live with her throughout
her life.”
It seems that this guy got exactly what he deserved amid the
assault, and hopefully it’s enough to ensure that it doesn’t happen
again. If that isn’t the case, well, I hear that rapists don’t exactly
have the easiest time in jail – and four and a half years would be a
long time to avoid incident, but only time will tell.
