Four states have primaries or caucuses today to determine the GOP Presidential nominee.
One of those states is Kansas.
Trump and Cruz have been campaigning hard in the state, but
many thought Trump would continue his dominance. But this happened
instead.
CNN has called the Kansas Caucus for Ted Cruz…and it isn’t even close.
This follows big wins for the Senator in neighboring
Oklahoma and Texas. Cruz also won Iowa and Alaska, both also caucus
states, where Cruz has focused his spending for a very strong ground
game.
He also finished ahead of front runner Donald Trump in
Minnesota, the only state won by Sen. Marco Rubio thus far. Rubio is far
behind in Kansas.
And caucus-goers in Maine are sending a big shock as well —
with less than 5% reporting — if the current vote totals hold up, and
Ted Cruz leading by 15%.
UPDATE:
The race in Maine is tightening…with Trump now within 8%, but still trailing.
If Cruz takes these two states, what does this mean for Trump and Cruz moving forward?
And with Rubio getting absolutely shellacked, can he argue
has has any path to the nomination, even in the unlikely event he wins
his own state of Florida?
Lousiana (with the most delegates today), and Kentucky are still on tap for later tonight, with even more delegates at stake.
Stay tuned as we cover all the results tonight
