Woman Seeks Management After Seeing What A Clerk Is Doing With A Phone

Photos of and in the Home Bargains store, where the incident took place.
While shopping near the rear of the store, a women passed an aisle where she noticed a clerk standing with a phone in his hand. As she stopped and stared from around the corner, she couldn’t help but notice his hands, and soon, she found herself searching for store management.
The shopper, Sarah Ann, was getting her groceries alone during a rather slow part of the day, as to not deal with long lines. However, as she ventured toward the snack and candy aisle, she was completely taken aback by what one worker was doing. The unnamed employee was standing with another shopper, both hunched over a phone, intensely looking at whatever was on the screen. She waiting and watched to determine what exactly was going on, when tears began pouring down her face as it hit her.
An elderly man had entered the Home Bargains store in Liverpool, England before Sarah did, and he was seen wandering around aimlessly. A store clerk quickly took notice and offered to help. It didn’t matter that the worker had a list of duties to complete, all of that took a backseat to this struggling shopper’s need for assistance with his grocery trip.
The unidentified employee took the basket and bags from the man’s hands, then asked to see his list on his phone. The two took their time in each aisle, getting all the items the man needed. Sarah noted in her post, praising this employee on the Love What Matters page, that the clerk even went as far as to give this guy a stool every time he needed to rest.
Photo Sarah captured of the clerk helping the shopper, ever patient every step of the way.
Sarah found herself fixated on these two from afar, watching in awe at the compassion one man had for a complete stranger. It took a lot of patience to get through the elderly man’s shopping, but the clerk was there without a care, other than to make the customer’s day a little easier. He even helped him count his money at checkout, which topped off this simple act of kindness.
While many may argue that such customer service is part of  what’s expected of a clerk, that underestimates the heart of what this man really did for the shopper. He truly went above and beyond to take extra care him and his needs, rather than passing the task off on someone else or doing the bare minimum for this man to suffice. This employee is a credit to his profession and the company he works for.
Life rolls by at a fast pace, and those who struggle are often forgotten or lost in the race. To simply slow down, take notice, and pick someone up is often the best thing you can do to help another person. That’s what this employee did, when everything around him stopped, so he could focus on getting this guy’s grocery shopping done and be a friend to him.
