Alcatel is one of the few Chinese companies present in the United States, and it's also one of the few that has partnerships with US carriers.
The latest device launched by Alcatel in the United States is called Pop 7 LTE, which is a small tablet that provides the usual Android experience. It's not a high-end device, but it offers decent specs for a low price.
According to Alcatel, the Pop 7 LTE is now available for purchase at T-Mobile for just $130. Obviously, customers won't have to sign up for a long-term agreement since the Magenta carrier dropped contracts quite a while ago.
But the low price is not the only thing worth mentioning, as Alcatel has decided to include Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with the Pop 7 LTE, which is quite rare for such cheap tablets.
The rest of the slate's specs aren't impressive at all. As the name suggests, the tablet sports a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (1024 x 600 pixels) resolution and features oleophobic coating.
Unimpressive specs inside, but Marshmallow is a plus
Hardware-wise, Alcatel Pop 7 LTE comes equipped with a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
At the back, there's a 5-megapixel photo snapper with fixed focus and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for selfies.
Alcatel's entry-level tablet supports 4G LTE Cat 4 and drains energy from a decent 3,240 mAh battery, which hasn't been rated by the manufacturer yet.
“Our connected devices are more than just tools for keeping us in touch, they’re also our access to the entertainment and content we love. With the POP 7 LTE, T-Mobile customers are getting a value-packed tablet that delivers just that and more; delivering an easy to use and customizable pure Android experience along with great performance for being connected on the go,” said Jon Maron, vice president of Marketing and Communications for Alcatel, North America.
