Overview
Nadal looks like he is back to his best, coming into this game on the
back of a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Scot Andy Murray in the semi-final.
During the course of his journey to the final, Nadal has beaten three
tough opponents in Dominic Thiem, defending French Open champion Stan
Wawrinka and Murray. The 29-year-old has reached his first clay-court
Masters final since last May.
Frenchman
Monfils too comes into this tie on the back of some brilliant
performances in the Monte Carlo Masters. He has not dropped a set so far
in the tournament. Monfils cruised past Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the
semi-finals winning 1-6, 3-6 on Saturday and is currently at his best.
The 29-year-old attributes this change in form to a more disciplined
approach on the court.
