Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice left many fans commenting
on how serious in tone the movie was, and while some praised its
dedication to the darker origins of the iconic characters, others were
quick to mention that it threatened to take the fun out of a genre that
is seen by most as a bit of escapist fun.
Now, it seems like Warner Bros are heeding audience's worries, with Birth.Movies.Death.
reporting that the studio are now re-shooting certain scenes of their
upcoming picture Suicide Squad to make it more light-hearted.
Over time, movies in the DC Extended Universe have been
known to err more on the serious side, most notably in Christopher
Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. This tone not only stems from the
source material, but arguably over the years, has acted as a way of
distancing itself from rival Marvel, which has always been the
frontrunner when it comes to comedy.
So jokes have often fallen by the wayside and have not been
present in the DC films before. Something that they seemingly want to
rectify, and what with a film starring the Joker and quick-witted Harley Quinn at their disposal, now it finally seems possible.
The recent trailers
went down incredible well with viewers, and due to the ecstatic
response Warner Bros instructed the team to put more moments like those
in the final film.
According to Birth.Movies.Death,
another separate source also validated this report. Allegedly, they
even continued on to say that the re-shoots are a massive affair, with
the budget for the re-shoots in the tens of millions of dollars as the
writers expand the interaction between characters. All in all, this can
only be a good thing, Warner Bros is seriously listening to fan feedback
and if they're really giving the general public what they want, that
can only mean everyone wins. More bucks for them and more enjoyment for
us!
Directed
by David Ayer, the film centres on a number of imprisoned
supervillains, rather than the typical heroes, who are forced to carry
out Black Ops tasks for a corrupt government agency in exchange for less
severe jail sentences. It is scheduled to be released in both UK and US
cinemas on 5 August 2016 and stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola
Davis, Will Smith and more.
