Sylvia Fowles leads Minnesota Lynx past Chicago Sky

Sylvia Fowles collected 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead the reigning WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx to a 97-80 victory over the Chicago Sky on Wednesday afternoon at Allstate Arena in Glenview, Ill.
Maya Moore added to the balanced attack with 22 points, Renee Montgomery had 15 and Seimone Augustus chipped in with 10 for the Lynx (2-0).

Elena Delle Donne scored a game-high 28 points, Cappie Pondexter had 18 and Tamera Young added 11 for Chicago (1-1).
Wednesday's game was the season debut for Delle Donne, the 2015 league most valuable player. She missed last Saturday's WNBA opener with a unspecified illness.
The Lynx led 23-19 after one quarter, 46-40 at halftime and by as many as 10 points in the third quarter.
Minnesota was up 67-59 to open the fourth quarter and quickly extended the lead to double digits with a 13-6 surge, including five points from Augustus, to 80-65 with 7:24 left. The Sky never got closer than 14 points.
The Lynx later pushed the lead to 20 at 95-75 on a Fowles 3-point play with 2:03 left in the quarter.
Fowles, a former Sky top draft pick, was traded from Chicago to Minnesota in July 2015 after she sat out a half-season while declining to sign a new contract with the Sky.
