Game 1 of the NBA Finals was the most watched opener in 15 years.
The matchup between the defending champion Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers on ABC drew a 13.1 overnight rating, according to Neilsen. It is the highest mark for a Game 1 since 2001, when the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers received a 15.2 on NBC.This year's Game 1 fared slightly better last season's Game 1 between the same two teams when ABC received a 12.9 rating.
The game was highly popular in the home markets with Cleveland posting a 36.0 rating and the San Francisco area earning a 32.8.
