LG launches new V20 smartphone as Samsung stumbles

LG's newest smartphone was launched Tuesday evening in San Francisco featuring Google's Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

The V20 Android, this year's follow-up to the V10, debuts as one of its chief competitors, Samsung, issues a worldwide recall of the Galaxy Note 7. The phone also is the first to ship with Google's latest operating system.

The V20 also features upgrades to the dual-camera system and second display. Music lovers will probably appreciate LG keeping the headphone jack, and really appreciate the 32-bit hi-fi quad digital-to-analog converters, a notable improvement in sound quality.

LG executives announced the device would be available from the four major US carriers and and reach stores in the fall. Pricing and on-sale date is expected to be announced soon.
