San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly says he's going nowhere

San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly reiterated Wednesday he has no intention of returning to the college ranks.

When asked if he plans to stay with the struggling 49ers (1-10), Kelly was quick with his answer.

"Yep. So we're all done with that, I hope," the 53-year-old Kelly said, via CSNBayArea.com.

Kelly then shook his head and said "no" when asked if there was any chance he would become Oregon's next head coach.

The topic of conversation heated up on the heels of Ducks athletic director Rob Mullens announcing Tuesday night the dismissal of head coach Mark Helfrich after four seasons.

"I just felt bad for Mark. I love him like a brother," Kelly said of Helfrich, who was his assistant with Oregon. "He's a tremendous person. He's a hell of a football coach, but he's an even better person. Just felt for him and the rest of the guys on that staff. It's an unfortunate thing that goes on in this profession. We all know about it when we sign up, but when it happens you're still taken aback by it."

Kelly admitted that he has not spoken with anyone associated with the university and was not asked for a recommendation or advice on the Ducks' next coach.

Kelly posted a 46-7 mark with Oregon from 2009-12 before venturing off to the NFL to coach the Philadelphia Eagles. Currently in his first season with the 49ers, he was hired by San Francisco two weeks after being fired by Philadelphia.
