Choetech’s USB PD Charger Can Rapidly Charge an iPhone at Full 18W – Offers Extreme Value for Money

Apple charges $49 for its 30W USB-C wall adapter if you want to fast charge your iPhone. What if I told you that you can do the same for under 20 bucks?

Quick Review: Choetech’s USB PD Charger Will Fast Charge Your iPhone for Under 20 Bucks
Note: Choetech was kind enough to send in their USB PD charger for review and are offering exclusive discount codes for our readers as well. All views expressed in this quick review are my own.

If you are taking the Apple route, you have to spend a total of $70 if you wish to fast charge your iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X. That’s $49 for the 30W USB-C charger and $19 for the USB-C to Lightning cable. But, you can bring that price down drastically if you opt for a third-party option, more precisely, an option from Choetech. But of course, you have to get the USB-C to Lightning cable from Apple since third-parties aren’t allowed to make MFi ones just yet.

For under 20 bucks, the 18W USB PD wall charger from Choetech achieves what its $49 counterpart can: fast charge the iPhone at full speed. I was a bit skeptical when I first received the charger. In fact, a little too skeptical. So, in order to test the claim, I did a quick non-scientific test of my own.

First and foremost, I drained my iPhone X all the way down to just 1%, put the phone in airplane mode, then plugged it in. After 30 minutes the phone was charged to 49%, which is way close to what you can expect from Apple’s own charger. Apple claims that a 30 minute charge will give you 50% of juice, so needless to say things are looking good with what Choetech has to offer.

On the design front, the charger is very minimal and fits into any travel bag real nicely. It has subtly rounded edges that give it a nice feel. It even has a small footprint, which is a good thing. It has a width of 2-inches, length of 1.6-inches and is just 1-inch thick, in case you are wondering.

Since this is a USB PD charger, therefore it is not only just compatible with the iPhone. It will work just fine with the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Google Pixel 1 and 2, Nexus 5X and 6P, Nokia 8 and so on. Needless to say you are well covered in every regard. Also, you’ll be pleased to learn that it will work the Nintendo Switch as well thanks to its wide range of charging profiles.

In case you are wondering what types of output this charger supports, here they are: 5V at 3A, 9V at 2A and 12V at 1.5A.

Overall, I would highly recommend this charger if you’re looking for extreme value for money. In fact, I’ll go as far as saying that skip Apple’s option altogether and get this for your fast charging needs.
