Kim Kardashian visited a women's prison in California

Kim Kardashian has visited a women's prison to meet with inmates and discuss what it is like being locked up and their concerns about going back into the outside world.

The reality TV star arrived at the California Institution for Women on Friday and toured the facilities and cell blocks with several bodyguards, The Daily Mail reports.

The 37-year-old spoke to 15 women about their anxieties and future plans over a visit that lasted several hours.

Kim wanted to use the trip for research for a new program to help female offenders adjust to life outside prison, a source told TMZ.
In June, Kim visited the Oval Office and successfully persuaded President Donald Trump to pardon Alice Johnson, a first-time nonviolent drug offender who'd been serving a life sentence since 1996.
Kim announced the news by posting a picture of Johnson with the caption: 'BEST NEWS EVER!!!!'
"So grateful to @realDonaldTrump, Jared Kushner & to everyone who has showed compassion & contributed countless hours to this important moment for Ms. Alice Marie Johnson,"she said in a follow-up message.

"Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance."
In a further tweet she mentioned her plans for the future, writing: 'I hope to continue this important work by working together with organizations who have been fighting this fight for much longer than I have and deserve the recognition.'

She went into more detail about her intention to work with female prisoners in an interview with CNN
"I honestly saw that if I could use my platform just to do something for one person, that it opens the conversation for so much more and for other people to want to do the same thing," she said.

"If more people would just put their personal feelings aside and talk about really important issues that have to be discussed, then so much more can get done.

"No matter who you talk to, no matter what political party, people feel what's right is right and that's what I love about this, is that it can just be so bipartisan."
