If you’ve ever wished your burger came in a fancier box (no, just me?),
you’re in luck because McDonald’s just released a limited-edition burger
box that literally has crystals embedded in it to promote their new
signature collection of gourmet burgers in the U.K.
McDonald’s tapped London designer Julien Macdonald to create a bespoke burger box inspired by his line of couture gowns.

“I drew inspiration from my fashion creations and iconic embellished
red-carpet dresses,” the designer, who also happens to share the same
last name as the restaurant, told WWD. “This was translated into a gold,
baroque, crystal-encrusted box, which is the perfect packaging for the
luxury McDonald’s collection.”
Just 1,000 Julien Macdonald Signature Collection boxes will be up for
grabs at various events at McDonald’s throughout the U.K. over the next
few weeks, but don’t go booking your ticket to London just yet. Only
U.K. residents 18 years and older can sign up to attend the events to be
able to win one of the box

In addition to the 1,000 limited-edition boxes that will be given away,
Macdonald also created a special hand-embellished box that will be
displayed at the McDonald’s Leicester Square location before being
auctioned off to benefit the Ronald McDonald House charities.

“This is our first-ever U.K. packaging collaboration, it’s a brave move
and it’s like nothing we’ve ever done before,” Emily Somers, vice
president of marketing at McDonald’s, told WWD. “It’s a great way to
mark our nationwide launch of the signature collection.”
