NRL: Manly rookie Manase Fainu charged with filming a sex act

Manly rookie Manase Fainu was promoted to first grade last week despite club management being aware he had been charged with filming a sex act and then posting it on social media, the Daily Telegraph reports.

It is alleged that Fainu engaged in consensual sex with a woman who was known to him before he filmed her unknowingly and posted the footage on Snapchat.

The woman reportedly contacted police when she was made aware of the post, at which time Fainu deleted the vision.

He was subsequently charged by police who claimed the 19-year-old “intentionally recorded intimate image without consent.”
The NRL integrity unit was reportedly also aware of the incident at the time of Fainu’s promotion.

Fainu originally faced court in May requesting the matter be dealt with under section 32 of the mental health act.

The section pertains to a defendant “who has a developmental disability, a mental illness or a mental condition for which treatment is available in a mental health facility, but who is not a mentally ill person”.
He will appear in Fairfield Local Court on August 7.

Fainu made his NRL debut for the Sea Eagles at hooker in last week’s victory over Penrith.
