Palm’s New Smartphone Leaks with 3.3-Inch Display, 800 mAh Battery

Palm might be working on its return to modern smartphones, albeit if a recent leak is anything accurate, the term modern might be an overstatement.

AndroidPolice has published a photo of what it claims to be Palm’s new smartphone codenamed Pepito, revealing that the device would become available first at Verizon at some point in the future.

At this moment, there are no specifics as to when it could launch and the price it could come with, but judging from the specs, it won’t be an expensive purchase.

Pepito will feature a 3.3-inch 720p LCD screen, which means there’s a good chance it’s going to be the smallest Android phone that you can buy. And because of the small screen, there’s very little space inside for the battery, so Pepito will come with a unit boasting a capacity of just 800 mAh.

Needless to say, it won’t be a workhorse. The device will feature a Snapdragon 435 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space. Palm may offer several configurations, and slightly upgraded models could go on sale in other markets as well.

Somewhat surprising given all these specs is that the Palm smartphone will run Android 8, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how smoothly the experience is going to be.

On the other hand, the device will have one big thing in common with the more capable iPhone: it won’t feature a headphone jack and will probably come with a USB-C port. This means you’re going to need USB-C headphones or an adapter to listen to music on Palm’s Pepito.

Several colors will also be offered, and the cited source claims titanium and gold versions are very likely to be launched.
