A Kanye West superfan wanted to meet the rapper so badly he slept outside his recording studio on the off chance of meeting him.
Saturday morning was Jorge Flores’ lucky day when West not only
acknowledged him, but listened to him rap, invited him inside and gave
him a helping of life advice, Flores told The Post.
But before long, the visitor gave Yeezy’s security detail the creeps and they asked him to leave, a source said.
“I just walked right up to him and starting rapping,” said Flores, 28,
who claimed to be homeless in explaining to the superstar why he was in a
sleeping bag outside Electric Lady Studios on West 8th Street around 7
a.m. He claimed he was kicked out of his Rockaway Beach apartment by his
roommate three days ago.
“I’m out here on the street and Kanye is bringing me into the studio
right now,” the musician says in an Instagram video West posted.
“Actually, my birthday was the other day, and I just became homeless
because the guy at the place I was living with was a little crazy.”
West invited the aspiring musician inside for a 40-minute chat over a
“strawberry and kiwi smoothie” and some “very exotic tasting soup,”
Flores said.
“He said that we’re like the guardians of the galaxy because we’re
protecting the world through music,” said Flores. “He told me that I rap
well, that I’m good, that he likes my energy and he likes how I think.”
After Kanye’s security team escorted him out, Flores continued to linger outside for hours.
West is in town as the musical guest for the season premiere of Saturday
Night Live tonight. He is also releasing a new album, Yandhi, at some
point late Saturday or early Sunday.
“My friend told me Kanye would be around here,” Flores said. Paparazzi
had also snapped West and his wife Kim Kardashian coming out of the
studio Friday night along with their children.
Flores seems to have a knack for “running” into famous hip hop stars, as
his Instagram is littered with photos of him with Drake, Cardi B,
Shaggy and others.
An Instagram video shows him rapping on “The Breakfast Club” radio show
in March with Charlamagne tha God, after conveniently running into him
outside the station.
Flores claims he recently moved to New York City from Orlando. “I moved
out here to pursue my dreams in music,” said Flores, clad in a cobalt
blue sweatshirt.
Though it was short, he was appreciative of his run-in with Yeezy.
“Kanye is my idol,” he said. “God, the universe and Kanye just gave me the best gift ever.”
