Christchurch man pleads not guilty to having explosives, weapons

A Christchurch man facing six charges of possessing explosives, ammunition and weapons has pleaded not guilty.

Jay Michael Harding-Reriti, 33, was arrested in the suburb of Phillipstown three weeks ago after police found items including detonator cords, explosive gel, knives, bullets and a handheld improvised explosive device.

He appeared in the Christchurch District Court briefly via video link this morning, and has opted for a judge alone trial.

Mr Harding-Reriti has been remanded in custody until 10 June, when an application for electronically monitored bail will be considered.
