A group of guys from out-of-town were walking through the
store parking lot to their car, when they heard a woman’s spine-chilling
screams. They glanced across at the parked cars, when they found her in
the bed of a truck. Moments later, the men took off on foot, when they
witnessed the disturbing scene unfolding, and brought a brutal dose of
instant justice with them. One guy in the pack managed to capture the
entire ordeal on tape.
The traveling heroes were passing through Oklahoma City from
El Paso, Texas, and they found themselves in the right place at the
right time. They were the only ones around who would help, as the woman
desperately shouted for someone to call 911. That call would eventually
be made by one of the out-of-towners, but they first had to do something
else to help get her out of harms way first.
The woman was bloody and struggling in the back of a pickup
truck with a man leaning over the side, beating her beyond recognition.
It was later learned that the abuser, identified as 52-year-old Douglas
Beckham, was the victim’s husband. The couple had gotten into an
argument after Beckham refused to buy his spouse something to eat in the
drive-thru,
KFOR reported.
The woman tried to make an escape from the seat of the truck by
kicking out the cab window and climbing out to the bed. That stunt
sliced her legs up pretty bad from all the broken glass, but Beckham was
about to make it much worse.
According to the report of the incident, which occurred on
August 6, Beckham got out of the car and began beating his wife with a
big flashlight. That’s when the group of guys arrived on the scene,
responding to the woman’s pleas, but they were told by the abuser to
stay out of it. They ignored him and intervened anyway.
After a brief altercation, Beckham tried to get away from
the good Samaritans by hopping behind the wheel and attempting to speed
off with the bloody woman still in the truck bed. However, one of the
men wasn’t going to let that happen. He met the driver at his door and
began pummeling the abuser with his fist — giving him a taste of his own
medicine.
Eventually Beckham was able to drive off, but he didn’t make
it too far. He was spotted lurking in the distance, before throwing his
truck back into drive and b-lining in the guys’ direction. The heroes
went back into action, breaking the truck window, which ended with him
speeding off in the opposite direction again.
Beckham was arrested later that day and charged with assault
with a deadly weapon and one charge of domestic assault and battery
with a dangerous weapon. The deadly weapon charge came from trying to
plow the men over with his vehicle, which as it turns out is also his
home. The couple is currently homeless and living out of two cars.
This group of young guys are a credit to their generation.
They didn’t second-guess what they should do or wait for someone else to
get involved. They immediately jumped in and helped a woman trapped
under the wrath of a disgusting coward. This is probably the first time
anyone has ever come to the defense of this woman without it being their
job to do so. It’s time to stand up for other people, stop the wrongs
in this world, and regain the inner fortitude the country’s Founding
Fathers had.
